Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced seller with a proven track record in the maritime industry to join our team in Shanghai, China, managing sales across the Greater China region. The suitable candidate will be responsible for driving business growth, managing client relationships, and promoting our premium shaft sealing solutions and service to key stakeholders in the maritime and shipping sectors.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales & Account Management:
    • Identify, develop, and convert sales opportunities within the maritime sector in Greater China, focusing on shaft sealing solutions for vessels, marine propulsion systems, and related applications.
    • Cultivate strong relationships with existing clients and prospects including ship owners, managers and shipyards.
    • Execute sales strategies to increase market share and achieve revenue targets.
    • Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations and proposals tailored to client needs.
  • Technical Expertise & Product Promotion:
    • Serve as a technical expert on Lagersmit’s shaft sealing solutions, articulating product benefits, technical specifications, and value propositions to customers.
    • Collaborate with the engineering and support teams to address client inquiries, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
    • Stay informed of industry trends, technological advancements, and competitor activities to maintain a competitive edge in the market.
  • Customer Relationship Management:
    • Build long-term partnerships with clients and maintain high levels of client retention.
    • Regularly visit clients and attend maritime industry events, conferences, and trade shows to network and promote Lagersmit products.
    • Provide after-sales support and follow-up, ensuring clients are fully satisfied with the products and services.
  • Sales Forecasting & Reporting:
    • Prepare and submit regular sales reports, market analysis, and forecasts to the local Sales Manager.
    • Monitor and analyze sales performance, tracking progress against targets and identifying areas for improvement.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of sales experience in the maritime industry, preferably with a focus on technical products and services (shaft sealing systems, marine equipment, or propulsion systems).
  • Strong understanding of the Greater China maritime market, including key players, regulations, and customer needs.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain client relationships, with a focus on customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to communicate complex solutions effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in CRM tools and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to travel within the Greater China region as required.

 

Desired Skills & Competencies:

  • Knowledge of marine shaft sealing solutions and related maritime technologies.
  • Fluent in English, with proficiency in Mandarin (Cantonese is a plus) considered an asset.
  • Strong negotiation skills and a solution-oriented approach.
  • Self-motivated, goal-driven, and a team player with a proactive attitude.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent presentation and reporting skills.
