This position is an 18-month term to fill a parental leave.
Reporting to the Controller, the Finance Analyst enables the company to achieve its financial and business objectives through the processing of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and maintenance of general ledger accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing general financial accounting and administrative activities
- Maintain control of accounts payables, accounts receivables, and purchases
- Complete the process for payment accounts to ensure the company meets its financial obligations
- Comply with company payment policy and secure discounts where applicable
- Promote and build strong working relationships with all internal and external customers and vendors
- Provide assistance as applicable to all staff on processes and procedures
- Accurate and timely processing of payroll and benefits
- Administer group benefits and pension/RSP plans along with vacation time management.
- Process payroll on a bi-weekly basis.
- Reconcile payroll accounts as per direction of the Controller
- Keep abreast of developments relating to payroll and benefits regulation and administration
- Ensure the company complies with statutory obligations and follows best practices
- General accounting duties, assigned by the Controller
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Our ideal candidate possesses the following education and competencies.
Education
- High school diploma
- 4+ years industry/accounting experience
- Accounting/bookkeeping/business diploma will be considered an asset
Competencies
- Demonstrated technical proficiency in payroll, AR/AP, and account reconciliations
- Knowledge and understanding of local and federal payroll legislation
- Abreast on up-to-date accounting and financial best practices
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills including conflict resolution
- Deadline-oriented and strong attention to detail
- Accurate data entry, review and check own work
- Strong organizational and project planning ability
- Accurately and thoroughly explain process, paystubs, and benefits to employees
- Software: MS Office suite, ADP, Kronos, Concur, and Epicor
