Purpose:

 

Philadelphia Gear part of the Timken Power Systems group in Santa Fe Springs, CA has a current opening for a Warehouse & Materials Manager position.  This position is responsible for planning, organizing and managing all activities for shipping, receiving, packing, transportation planning, and inventory management.  Plans, implements and manages policies and procedures to optimize inventory control and reduce waste. Develops and implements standard operating procedures for inventory controls to include assessment of the amount of stock on-hand, cycle counts, stocking replenishment process, proper location and labels with product numbers. Provides organizational leadership and works closely with department staff and Managers of other departments to guide technical and operational direction, customer service, planning and coordination of all material services.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage and maintain accurate inventory and WIP records using the ERP system (Epicor) and data analysis tools.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain Manager on supply chain management process from procurement to distribution, ensuring timely delivery of materials.
  • Implement best practices for inventory control, including cycle counts, audits, and reconciliation processes.
  • On-time Shipment Performance. Manage the process by adjusting schedules and moving employees to meet 95% or better on-time delivery.
  • Meet customer expectations for quality of packaging, packing, and value-added services as outlined by the customer.
  • Analyze inventory turnover rates and develop strategies to reduce extra stock while meeting customer demand. 
  • Train and supervise staff involved in inventory management functions, promoting a culture of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Safety and Housekeeping - Provide a clean and safe work environment for employees. Adhere to Timken safety standards and OSHA regulations. Take corrective action to replace and/or repair safety hazards. Train and counsel associates on safe work procedures concerning material handling equipment (cranes, booms and lifts), hazardous chemical (SDS), fire equipment, and lifting.
  • Manage the flow of material throughout the facility for all internal and external manufacturing operations.
  • Implement and manage a visibility board which includes Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and other metrics to support continuous improvement.
  • Ensures regulatory requirements are met in accordance with Local, State, Federal, Government, and Military guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills and Experience: 

 

  • Min Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Operations/Management or related field, minimum 5+ years of applicable experience.  
  • Leading and coaching skills, especially development and effective delegation.
  • Proven experience in inventory management or a related field within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain management principles and materials management practices.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools for effective reporting and decision-making.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail, capable of managing multiple priorities effectively.
  • Computer proficient with working knowledge of MRP/ERP software and Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint).            

 

 

Pay Range: $90K - $113K annual
