Timken Gears and Services' Philadelphia Gear brand has a current opening for a Quality Manager at the Santa Fe Springs Regional Service Center who will provide the facility with a world class quality management system. The Quality Manager is a key member of the plant management team; provides significant input to business planning processes and manages the development and completion of objectives to achieve the defined results and provides technical exertise and leadership. The Quality Manager manages and leads the activities of a multidisciplinary team in accomplishing the goals and objectives of the plants business plan primarily related to management of product quality, introduction of new products, continuous improvement of the quality management systems and engineering cross function, effective management of capital spending and overall customer satisfaction.  

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Develops, implements and improves the ISO 9001 Quality Management System. Ensure continuation of the facility ISO and customer approvals and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manages and develops quality staff including building and supporting a high-performing team, goal and metric development, performance reviews and feedback, and facilitation of the talent management process.  Provide hands-on management for the technical portion of engineering programs and quality systems.
  • Manages department and group of Inspectors shop personnel, provides technical guidance which includes following work instruction of engineering/quality practices and procedures.
  • Directs and works closely with engineering team on corrective actions, analysis and problems solving initiatives.
  • Leads in identifying opportunities/gaps in existing quality standards, practices, and tools.
  • Responsible to develop, maintain, and improve quality training programs to ensure adequate training for all employees.
  • Manages review of all quality documents from the manufacturing process per project/contract.
  • Manages responsibly for the maintenance and archiving of quality and technical data in support of projects contracts.
  • Qualification and approval of approved (ASL) and preferred (PSL) suppliers.
  • Review, processing and monitoring of all customer returns and complaints.
  • Manage Supervisor overseeing receiving, in process, and final inspection processes.
  • Provide final reports as required per contracts.
  • Work directly with customers on quality aspects of our projects.
  • Oversight on government/customer onsite inspections when required by project/contract.
  • Directly work with Engineering and Operations team in overseeing the calibration system.
  • Some travel (<25%) required.       

 Key Attributes:

  • Bachelor's degree with 7+ years’ experience or 15+ years in lieu of degree with Quality Management experience
  • Broad technical understanding of industrial manufacturing applications with preference for gear experience
  • Familiar with ISO 9001 Quality certification
  • Proficiency in precision inspection tools and measurement
  • Familiar with Non-Destructive Testing
  • Advanced written communication skills and ability to present in large or small groups
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and dispute management tactics
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Excellent computer skills (proficient in Microsoft software)

 

Pay Range: $90K - $135K
