Position Purpose:

The Production Supervisor provides the necessary leadership and direction to the Operators under his charge. (I.e. motivating, developing, managing, evaluating, etc.), optimizes day-to-day operations of the department, monitors and controls KPI under his charge (Safety, Quality, Scrap, Schedule Accomplishment, Productivity, Absenteeism, Quality and OEE.  Ensures compliance with safety and environmental standards, develops training road maps for his direct reports and oversees equipment repairs, modifications, and upgrades. The supervisor's guidance and leadership of his/her subordinates directly supports the continuous improvement and success of daily manufacturing operations. Regular contact with Process Engineers, Production Control, Quality Engineers, Material Engineers and Lean Manufacturing Engineers.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Accomplishes manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating and en-forcing systems, policies and procedures.
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees, developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Maintains a safe work environment for employees and holds associates accountable to following safe work practices.
  • Responds to process and equipment failures in a timely manner applying lean problem-solving process to identify root cause of problems and implements countermeasures to ensure there is not a re occur-rence.
  • Ensures that all products manufactured by his\her team follow approved process control plans and meet or exceed Timken Quality expectations. 
  • Maintain work flow by monitoring steps of the process; rigorously enforcing work Standards settings pro-cessing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating correc-tions to malfunctions within process control points, initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Completes production plans by scheduling and assigning personnel: accomplishing work results; estab-lishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
  • Actively identifies and implements continuous improvements activities. 
  • Ensures operations of equipment by calling for repairs, evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment and resources, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.

 

Education / Experience

Required – Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering,  or related with 4+ years’ of experience.
