Purpose of Position

This position works closely with engineers, specialists, and project leaders to ensure that test programs are executed according to plan. The position also works closely with Bearing & Seal Test leadership to ensure that the laboratory operates efficiently, and its priorities are aligned with the needs of the Business Units and the R&D organization. 

Essential Responsibilities

  1. Perform test machine and test tooling design necessary for product testing and evaluation as requested by business units. Develop ideas for continuous improvement of laboratory productivity, reduction of test cycle-time and set-up time, and share best practices with other test groups within the company.
  2. Present test design concepts and the analysis of tested product to Bearing & Seal Test group management, project leaders, and business unit personnel as required. Ensure adequate and up-to-date documentation of test plans.
  3. Work with engineers, specialists, and project leaders to ensure that laboratory activities are closely aligned with the test schedule and priorities, maximize test equipment utilization, maintain a clean and orderly test lab, and ensure proper machine maintenance and operation.
  4. Instruct Bearing & Seal Test group Analysts and Technicians to perform tests to evaluate product performance in accordance with standard procedures and test plans that are aligned with the needs of the business units and Technology; perform detailed evaluation of tested product.
  5. Conduct analyses of performance test data (e.g. statistical analyses of bearing life data), document and report the results, predict product performance using simulation tools, and compare predictions with experimental results.

Technical/Functional Skills

  • Mechanical aptitude/ability and experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting test equipment.
  • Expereince with programmable machine controllers and pneumatic & hydraulic loading systems.
  • Experience with CAD software, Siemens NX perferred. 
  • Results Focused.
  • Experience with test equipment, tooling, or machine design.
  • Strong interpersonal and team skills
  • Computer skills using MS Outlook, Word, and Excel as well as interfacing with machine controls.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree with at least 5 year’s of experience 
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial/Mechanical Engineering with 1 to 3 years of experience
