Purpose of Position

The Timken Company’s Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team leads the global forecasting process and management reporting and analysis across the organization. In addition, FP&A provides analytics for management insight and decision support. This role is key to all major FP&A processes and functions including the monthly financial forecast, annual budgeting process, variance analysis, and value-based decision making. The role provides support to senior management including preparing board presentations, financial presentations, investment analysis, new business opportunities, and other projects requested by senior management.  As a lead analyst, this individual is recognized as a subject matter expert in elements of the forecast and reporting as well as specific systems.  This position reports to the Assistant Controller & GM – FP&A.


 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Analyze trends in key performance indicators including all areas of revenue, cost of sales and S&A.
  • Participate in developing solutions for improved forecast modeling.
  • Prepare quarterly and monthly financial reporting
  • Develop financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives
  • Analyze complex financial information and reports to provide accurate and timely recommendations to management for decision making purposes
  • Supporting the senior management team and department leads with in-depth analysis
  • Prepare presentations to senior management team
  • Interface with finance managers around the world to ensure accurate reporting, forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Conduct forecast reviews of P&L and balance sheet recommending adjustments to align the
  • forecast.

  • Other ad hoc reporting and analysis as necessary to support the organization.

 

Technical/Functional Skills

  • Strong analytical skills for variance/root cause analysis

  • Hyperion Planning or OneStream expertise
  • SAP or similar ERP expertise
  • PowerBI or Tableau or QlikView or R experience
  • SAP BW/BI or similar data warehouse
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Data Analytics with at least 7 years' relevant experience. Experience with a global manufacturing company is preferred.
  • Master’s degree in M.B.A., Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Data Analyitics with 5 yeaers' relevant experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Position level will be dependent upon years of qualified, relevant experience and education.
