This position will provide legal counsel, guidance and education to The Timken Company's management and personnel worldwide, ensuring the company operates effectively while managing risk and complying with legal and ethical obligations. This role requires a versatile in-house generalist who can advise on a wide range of legal matters impacting our global business units and corporate centers. 

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, practical, and innovative legal counsel to business units and corporate functions to support the The Timken Company's objectives. Areas of focus may include corporate finance, commercial and contractual relationships with customers, suppliers, lenders and other third parties, corporate governance, litigation management, real estate, intellectual property, employment and benefits, government contracting, compliance, M&A, finance, securities and other substantive legal areas as needed.
  • Interpret and apply laws and regulations across the jurisdictions in which the company conducts business.
  • Monitor evolving legal and regulatory trends, advise leadership on potential risks and opportunities, and develop strategies to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
  • Evaluate the need for legal training and design, implement and conduct training for company employees as appropriate.
  • Contribute to the effectiveness of the Law Center by actively participating in its mission, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, and building strong relationships across all levels of the Company.

 

 Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) with a minimum of 6 years legal experience, in-house legal department experience a plus
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong customer service orientation and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working with international clients a plus
  • Experience with providing counsel directly to client’s senior management a plus
  • Experience with M&A a plus
