Job Summary:

Member of Timken Aurora Bearing Engineering team who collaborates to launch and support new projects and processes at our Timken Aurora facility. Identifies and implements design changes that will improve efficiencies, workflow and systems in an effort to achieve unit goals while interfacing with multiple operations support teams.

 

Provide the Engineering and Project Management experience necessary to coordinate and implement projects that are large in scope. Will develop solutions while supporting plant production, quality control, maintenance, and continuous improvement. Self-driven by setting clear objectives, successfully integrating with teams and maintaining open communications while promoting plant productivity.

 

Communicates with key stakeholders and senior management on project status, strategy, risks, and issues.

 

Job Responsibilites:

  1. Provide solutions to daily engineering related problems in the areas of production, quality control and Continuous Improvement.

 

  1. Design new machinery or devices to fill the void where no existing device, or a price-competitive nature, is available. Also, modify or redesign existing equipment to perform similar but unique (different) production functions.

 

  1. Seek out contractors and suppliers to provide new, more innovative, and cost­ effective solutions to old as well as new problem areas. Manage the work being done by those suppliers as new and existing technology is implemented. Convert supplier drawings and product information and introduce this data into all Timken databases.

 

  1. Manage multiple projects that involve the delegation of assignments to other engineers, analysts, hourly associates and contractors while implementing new technologies to the Timken Aurora Bearing Plant. Initiate and control the capital and expense spending for the projects.

 

  1. Define and justify Continuous Improvement projects in all areas of production. Work with associates from Production areas to implement ideas.

 

  1. Will have direct control of projects to be installed on plant equipment. Project costs could vary from a few thousand dollars to greater than five hundred thousand. The position will be required to develop ideas that contribute to cost reduction at the Timken Aurora plant.

 

  1. Responsible to evaluate alternatives leading to the development and implementation of manufacturing processes on new and existing products to achieve an optimum relationship between cost and quality. This position is responsible for every aspect of process Engineering, industrial Engineering, and production standard costs, tooling/equipment procurement, improving operating performance, identifying and reducing waste, and troubleshooting in assigned areas of responsibility.

 

  1. This position leads/coordinates launch and continuous improvement activities for the business, including the development and implementation of lean manufacturing concepts to systematically identify and eliminate waste.

 

Minimum Requirments:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar

Five year experience in a manufacturing environment

Three year experience in project manangement

Lean training or Six Sigma certification

 

Prefered Requirements:

Master's degree in Engineering
