Overall Purpose:

Lead plant efforts in achieving safety goals and objectives, including but not limited to incident investigation & corrective actions, leading safety team, behavior-based safety program, ergonomic evaluations, job hazard assessments, and others.

Coordinate and maintain systems to ensure plant-wide environmental compliance to local, state, and federal regulations. Maintain records of all environmental activities and communicate with plant, corporate, and external agencies of all processes and procedures. Coordinate all activities associated with hazardous and non-hazardous material use, activities and procedures to maintain ISO-14001 compliance, and compliance with environmental policies and procedures.

 

Assist in repairs and maintains machinery and equipment according to manufacturer’s specifications. Installs and repairs electrical apparatus of the machinery and equipment such as the electrical components.

 

Responsibilities: 

  1. Manage a plant-wide safety program/strategy. Create and facilitate safety team and coordinate safety team activities to leverage identification and mitigation of safety risks. Report out safety metrics at morning production meetings.
  2. Work with plant management and Safety Engineer to create, implement, and continually improve the plant safety training programs, coordinate all training for plant associates to ensure compliance with corporate, state, and federal requirements.
  3. Investigate all safety incidences with the leadership team to determine root cause and corrective actions. Assist in proper communication to associates, leadership, and corporate safety.
  4. Leads the safety team monthly meetings and the precaution-based safety meetings as well. Responsible for leading plant's ergonomic risk assessments and reductions.
  5. Coordinate and conduct hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal and containment activities; communicate and follow-up to ensure awareness and compliance.
  6. Conduct internal plant-wide weekly Safety/Environmental audits to ensure compliance to safety and environmental standards such as PIT's, storage racks, fall protection, and performs annual drills as required.
  7. Submits all required safety and environmental reports to Corporate EH&S.
  8. Repairs/Dismantles plant machinery and equipment and installs new or repaired part in an industrial establishment following specifications, blueprints, manuals and schematic drawings through the use of hand tools, hoists, cranes and measuring and testing instruments
  9. Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears and other parts of machinery through the use of rags, brushes and a grease gun.
  10. Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment using electrical and electronic test equipment. Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose the problem and repair the machine.
  11. Teach, coach, and mentor plant associates on company EHS guidelines.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

             

Technical/Functional Skills: 

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Experience working in a team environment

Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and competing priorities

MIG and/or TIG welding prefered

 

Qualifications: 

High School Diploma or GED

OSHA 10 hour preferred

 

Physical Requirements:

Verbal & written communication

Requires frequent lifting and bending, reaching, fingering, near acuity and depth perception.

May required prolonged periods of standing/walking

Vision: Near/Distance/Color

Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and hand tools

May participate in hearing conversation program

Operates powered equipment

 

Environmental Conditions: Frequent impact noise, seasonal heat.

 

Protective Clothing and Personal Devices: Safety glasses, safety shoe
