 Location: Timken, American Roller Bearing, Hiddenite, NC.

 

 Job Type: Full-Time.

 

 Shift: Midnight Shift

 

 Schedule: Sunday to Thursday, 10:30 PM – 6:30 AM

 

 Pay Range: $18.37 to $19.55 per hour.

Position Summary:

Centerless ID Grinder is responsible for operating and maintaining grinding equipment use to perform ID grinding on bearing components.  This role involves reading and interpreting blueprints and technical specifications to grind components to precise tolerances using centerless grinding machines.  The grinder ensures that the quality of parts meets industry standards by performing in-process inspections and making necessary adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy. The ideal candidate will prioritize safety, quality, productivity, and customer service. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Read shop drawings for production specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, and number of parts to be ground.
  • Set-up machine (s) and adjust as needed.
  • Load and unload machine (s) while it is running.
  • Dress wheels to specifications.
  • Align parts, start machine, and observe operations.
  • Verify size dimensions with indicators and adjusts size where necessary.
  • Finish the O.D. by changing the diamond, grind position and feed rate as necessary.
  • Check roundness, chatter, finish, taper and size to precise specifications.
  • Operates machine daily producing a productive, quality product as quickly and efficiently as possible while maintaining safety requirements.
  • Properly follows all ISO guidelines and computer system functions.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and equipment.
  • Follow all safety protocols and company policies, including wearing required safety glasses and steel-toed shoes on the production floor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US. 
  • Must be willing to work required overtime. 

 

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Strong mechanical skills.
  • Basic knowledge of machining procedures. 
  •  Able to read and interpret show drawings, follow routers, use simple math to perform basic calculations (plus decimals and fractions), use basic handheld measuring tools.
  • Self-motivated with excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
