Position Summary: The purpose of this position is to lead the chain manufacturing operations team for the Timken Diamond-Drives business.
This position is responsible for all chain manufacturing functions across a multi-shift operation in the Fulton, IL location. Chain manufacturing functions include component manufacturing (stamping, heat treating, grinding, finishing, etc.) and chain assembly. This position is accountable for driving the strategy and tactical execution to develop a high performing team of department leaders and operative associates, maintain a safe work environment for all associates, lead the manufacturing team to produce quality product that is delivered on time to the customer, and driving performance improvements through disciplined management, problem-solving, and process development.
This position reports to the plant manager and is a key contributor to the business planning process and establishing the long-term strategic direction of the business.
Essential Job Duties:
- Lead with respect, ensure safety, drive quality at the source, and continually improve operational performance.
- Develop and maintain a high-performing organization through the selection, development, motivation, and leadership of team members.
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of others and provide a safe work environment through the continuous improvement of safety and environmental practices.
- Drive an unwavering commitment to quality ensuring process adherence, data integrity, and advancement of the quality system.
- Utilize formalized methodologies to solve problems, implement recurrence prevention countermeasures, and monitor solutions for effectiveness.
- Lead the team to achieve 100% schedule accomplishment, driving a sense of urgency through operations, and continually developing a disciplined management system to achieve sustained results.
- Drive the team to continually improve labor efficiency and equipment utilization to increase throughput, reduce lead times, and drive down overall operating costs.
- Create a culture within the facility that has an intolerance for the current condition and continually strives for improvement.
- Advance the business, drive overall performance improvements, and reduce costs through the development and implementation of manufacturing strategies and the elimination of waste throughout operations. Demonstrated ability to lead high performing teams.
- Strong talent management skills, including talent development and performance improvement ability.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems by identifying root cause and implementing effective recurrence prevention countermeasures.
- Ability to influence, motivate and inspire others.
- Excel communication and presentation skills.
- Familiarity with Toyota Production System (TPS) style lean management is preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Business Management, or Finance required. A minimum of 10 years leadership experience in a manufacturing setting.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and complete necessary production forms. Ability to speak effectively with fellow employees and/or customers.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply and understand, and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, schedule, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables; problem solving ability.

Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (frequent shop floor activity including walking, standing, lifting, etc.). While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, use hands/arms. The employee is regularly required to talk, hear at conversational level, and smell. The employee is occasionally required to walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds. Moving/lifting greater than 50 pounds requires assistance from another employee or a lifting device/hoist. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Required Personal Protective Equipment
Employee is required to wear proper safety eyewear, hearing protection, and steel-toed shoes at all times while on the plant floor.
