Position Summary:  This position is responsible for the development, improvement, implementation, management and maintenance of the planning and scheduling systems and processes to assist chain and auger operations in lean enterprise, inventory control and reduction, and customer service through the setting of level loaded plans to meet customer promises within value stream capacities.  This position manages all production planning and scheduling and is responsible for metric reporting, and is a key voice in the global SIOP process. 

 

Essential Job Duties: 

  • This position is responsible for the creation, maintenance and future direction of the schedule(s) and the production plans ability to meet $150MM of chain sales while maintaining inventory levels within business targets.
  • Manages the entire planning group, including master planning and production scheduling functions. 
  • Responsible for periodic reporting of plant metrics and develops understanding of drivers of metrics as well as root cause analysis. 
  • This position is responsible for analyzing and directing continuous improvement throughout the assigned value stream(s).
  • Participates in managing of individual supply chain by value stream: assist in monitoring KPI's for vendors or suppliers, develop solutions to issues, recommend and implement resolutions, build upon position relations.
  • Is power user throughout the SAP implementation directing the structure of Master Planning for chain operations.
  • Drives master scheduling throughout the value stream(s) by creating, maintaining and communicating KPI results to meet or exceed business forecast.
  • Creates, maintains, and insures execution of the Production Control Schedule (SAP) which supports the objectives of the site, including objectives for customer service, on time delivery, planned past due, inventory, for assigned value stream(s).
  • Manage partnerships with Customer, Customer Account Representative, Customer Service Manager, Contract Manager, manufacturing and Demand Manager to forecast stable customer demand.
  • Key contributor to the global Drives / Diamond SIOP process.  Works with demand planning on overall sales forecast and resultant production forecast.  Partners with supply chain on execution of supply needed for overall forecast. 
  • Assist in the overall review and assessment of chain capacity across the value stream, from press through final assembly and packaging.  Assist in recommending crewing levels and long-term capacity plans. 

 

Minimum Requirements:  

  • 10-15 years planning experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, Word, Outlook.
  • Proficient in SAP or other MRP.
  • Four year degree in operations, supply chain, finance.
  • Project management skills.
  • Inventory control, logistics and purchasing skills helpful.

 

Education and/or Experience:   Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Finance, or Operations required.  Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Operations preferred. 

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:   APICS preferred. 

 

Language Skills:      

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and complete necessary production forms.  Ability to speak effectively with fellow employees and/or customers. 

 

Mathematical Skills:                                                

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

Reasoning Ability:                                                    

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, schedule, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several variables; problem solving ability.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, use hands/arms.   The employee is regularly required to talk, hear at conversational level, and smell.  The employee is occasionally required to walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.  Moving/lifting greater than 50 pounds requires assistance from another employee or a lifting device/hoist.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

 

Work Environment:  The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

 

Required Personal Protective Equipment

Employee is required to wear proper safety eyewear, hearing protection, and steel-toed shoes at all times while on the plant floor.
