PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Support Heavy Industries Customer Engineering tactics and front-end business goals by translating customer needs into innovative applications for Timken bearings and related products, combining strong engineering fundamentals, application expertise, and customer insight to deliver value-added solutions and share knowledge across the organization.
MAIN RESPONSABILITIES
Technical Analysis & Engineering Support
- Perform advanced bearing analysis using proprietary Timken software and other engineering tools.
- Conduct calculations beyond standard software capabilities, including adjusted L10 life, system analysis, and internal geometry design.
- Define bearing specifications, recommend seal and lubricant solutions, and review customer selections.
- Provide engineering and technical support to field sales and internal teams.
Customer Engagement & Application Development
- Translate customer needs into bearing solutions aligned with Timken’s business goals.
- Present technical information to customers to influence buying decisions and add value.
- Support selected customers directly as an application engineer.
Innovation, Product Development & Risk Management
- Identify opportunities to expand Timken’s product and service lines or enter new markets.
- Submit ideas for product improvements.
- Participate in the development and testing of new analysis tools and software.
- Conduct industry and technology research, identify trends, and share insights with New Business Development and management.
- Perform DFMEA and contribute to PFMEA for both existing and new applications, applying standard risk analysis procedures.
Knowledge Sharing & Team Development
- Mentor and support entry-level and junior application engineers; check and review their work.
- Serve as instructor for Level 1 technical training classes and participate in onboarding new associates.
- Contribute to technical brochures, write technique papers, and support customer training to promote Timken’s brand and technical leadership.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
- Bachelor or Master degree in Engineering or Technology with 5 to 10 years experience.
- Demonstrated critical thinking & analysis, as well as problem solving skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to influence across the matrix organization and drive alignment.
- Project management and problem-solving expertise.
- Language skills : French, professional English and ideally good knowledge in German or Spanish
CONTRACT TYPE
- Permanent position (CDI), based on a 218-day annual working time package.
- Working location: France – Colmar (68)
