Purpose and Scope

The primary responsibility of the Area Manager is to manage the production process in a given area across many shifts and multiple teams. The role is to manage, directly and indirectly, the work organization of subordinate work teams in such a manner to ensure that the quality product flows smoothly through the production process in a required time and quantities established in production plans. The Area Manager is also responsible for improving processes together with the subordinate work teams/associates, as well as for innovative and effective problem solving in the production area in order to constantly improve standards of activities. The Area Manager ensures the execution of the established budget and makes improvement and cost-reduction proposals / projects, as well as seeks to achieve the financial results for the managed area corresponding to the business plan assumptions. The Area Manager also represents interests and needs of the employer by ensuring that all required standards and rules of the plant are met. These include standards and rules related to the area of EHS/5S/quality/lean, as well as the Labour Code and internal regulations/associate appraisal systems and other important requirements related to the process, product or associates. The Area Manager participates in the creation of middle-term (one-year) tactics for the subordinate area which aim to support long-term stream strategies active participation in Hoshin / Kojo Kanri. The responsibility of the Area Manager is also to develop and motivate the subordinate associates and teams in order to implement identified tactics and strategies. The Area Manager is a role model in terms of values and ethics of The Timken Company.

Responsibilities

The Area Manager ensures BP execution in the subordinate area. The Area Manager also ensures implementation of work standards in subordinate area; creates, develops and improves the standards. (Standards) The Area Manager is responsible for the results in subordinate area in terms of EHS and 5S, along with the team, through the creation of tactics, implements the strategy to eliminate risk and increase safety and ergonomics. Effectively enforces system requirements (eg. OHSA, corporate requirements, Labour Code) in the above mentioned field. (S) The Area Manager is responsible for the compliance with the TQMS requirements in subordinate area, the quality results resulting from the BP assumptions, and systemic audit results. Ensures cooperation with the new product introduction and quality team in the field of implementation of new projects and solutions. (Q) The Area Manager is responsible for production in the subordinate area in compliance with Lean Manufacturing principles (right product, at the right time, in right quantity; waste reduction, people are the foundation) (D) The Area Manager ensures operation within the budget, optimizes the production costs, as well as proposes and ensures the implementation of cost-reduction projects. (C) The Area Manager ensures team development through the Leadership Pipeline and Performance Management Process, which supports long-term needs of the plant resulting from the Hoshin Plan. Represents the interests of the employer, enforces discipline and proper use of the Performance Management Process / TMP. Within these two processes he/she motivates and evaluates associates and subordinate teams. (P) The Area Manager ensures that all stream activities are in line with the provisions of law, internal regulations and standards, and the corporate policy.

Technical Skill and Education  

                      Preferred BACHELOR of Management, Production Management Degree, Business Management Degree, Preferred 3-5 years experience in manufacturing setting, knowledge of the production process in the area of responsibility including the material and information flow, computer skills, MS Office, h igh interpersonal and communication skills - ability to                 

                      communicate at different levels, ability to solve conflicts and manage change processes, knowledge of and ability to implement the problem solving theories and tools, and basic knowledge of finance, budgeting and controlling in manufacturing environment.
