This position will be responsible for design, application, and development of projects related to customer powertrain opportunities with a focus on torsional couplings and technical solutions.  Projects may include simulation and analysis of powertrain systems to determine the most appropriate performance requirements, leading design efforts for new products, testing and developing a final proposed solution for customers, internal and external alike.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Conduct technical meetings with customers to understand their application details and design process.
  • Perform torsional vibration analysis of drivetrain to select product performance.
  • Execute design activities from concept to final design.
  • Manage and assign FEA and detailed drawings of components and assemblies.
  • Lead product development testing and validation efforts with support from test engineers on staff.
  • Recommend and spec test equipment based on range of product needs and voice of customer.
  • Review, interpret, and evaluate third party or customer collected test data (TVM).
  • In-depth understanding of NVH preferably as it relates to rotor dynamic systems.
  • Understanding of torsional vibration analyses
  • Inspect and evaluate returned products to assess potential failure modes and application suitability.
  • Provide technical product support to Sales Engineers and external customers including product training.
  • Provide timely and detailed project updates to management as needed.

Qualifications:  

Bachelors in Engineering, Masters preferred with 7 - 10 years' experience in mechanical design in the brake, clutch or hydraulics industry with a main focus on torsional couplings.
