Job Description:

Responsible for providing support and leadership for the assigned shift - facilitates efficient over-all shift operations of the Berthiez Finish Grind Cell:

  • Coordinate and communicate with Help Chain for quality, safety, maintenance, and management issues
  • Problem-solve general manufacturing issues that develop during the course of a shift
  • Ensure associates and machine assets produce quality parts in an efficient manner
  • Provide technical expertise to manufacturing and quality issues
  • Maintain a clean, safe and healthy work environment
  • Prevent and correct hazardous conditions and unsafe actions and ensuring all applicable safety regulations are followed at all times by associates
  • Act as a First Responder in cases of emergency situations
  • Coordinate machine repair and preventive maintenance with the maintenance technicians
  • Maintain a strong crew/team and communication between associates, shifts, and plant leadership through leading by example, and meeting training & communicating expectations
  • Assist in scheduling associates and assets to operate the cell to meet daily and weekly production by item
  • Implement continuous improvement (CI) to area processes, methods, and machines
  • Identify and address the training needs of shift members
  • Work closely with other departments, supervisors, engineers, maintenance, and production personnel
  • Operate machines as needed, when operators are absent or through breaks
  • Other assigned duties as deemed necessary, by management, to achieve plant and company goals

    Minimum Requirements:
  • 3 years of manufacturing experience
  • 2 years of experience operating CNC machinery - metal working (machining and/or grinding) 
  • Technical or mechanical background with experience in manufacturing processes
  • Proven experience providing leadership to others, in a team environment
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills
  • Satisfactory performance, attendance, quality and productivity work record
  • CPR, AED and First Aid qualified (if not current, will be required to obtain)
  • Must complete Timken - TMOS Certification, when scheduled
  • Must be willing to work any shift and work overtime
     
    Preferred:
  • 5 years of experience in a heavy manufacturing environment - metal working (machining and/or grinding) 
  • 5 years of experience operating CNC grinding or machining equipment
  • 2 years of experience in a leadership/team leader role
  • Associate’s degree (prefer technical or business)  (Machine Tool Technology, a plus)
