Timken Belts, located in Springfield, MO, is searching for a Development Engineer.

 

Equipment Engineer

 

Position Summary: 

This position provides the necessary Mechanical engineering required for the design and development of new products, equipment, and processes. This position also has the responsibility of supporting and optimizing existing installations.

 

Essential Job Duties: 

  • Provides the necessary engineering required to design, develop and implement new equipment and processes. 
  • Effectively manage projects which includes, establishing detailed and defined scopes, detailed cost estimates, timelines with milestones, and deliverables. Incumbent must also provide guidance and expertise to keep projects on track and within budget.
  • Provides engineering review of plant projects.
  • Provides training and development of production employees to ensure proper operation of installations which will promote safe working conditions, increased efficiency and quality products.
  • Develop the required documentation necessary for end users to operate, support and troubleshoot equipment.
  • Keep informed on new technology and equipment which may have potential use for new projects and improvement of existing facilities (both process and environmental).
  • Manage contractors used to install or maintain manufacturing equipment and plant services.

 

Technical/Functional Skills Required:

  • Project management skills
  • Mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal, written and presentation.
  • Ability to make fact-based recommendations for technical applications
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams
  • Solid modeling (CAD) software skills for designing tooling and equipment

 

Minimum Requirements:  

  • Broad Familiarity with manufacturing processes. Belt/Rubber knowledge is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles or other Continuous Improvement programs.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a manufacturing environment

Education and/or Experience:  Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.  Minimum of 3 years of Engineering or related experience.
