Position Summary:

American Roller Bearing is currently seeking Assembler - Level 1 for its facility located in Morganton, NC working day shift (7a to 3p).  A successful assembler values safety, quality, productivity, and customer service. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Uses computer to look up the components needed to complete a job
  • Gathers necessary components for job according to specifications (cages, inner and outer races, rollers, cones, pins, etc.) and verifies conformance of parts
  • Inspects bearing components for cosmetic imperfections before beginning assembly
  • Clean parts or components using mild solvent to remove ink marks and other contaminates
  • The use of machinery such as manual drills, riveter, polishing lathe and hand tools for assembly
  • Verifies alignment and tolerance of moving parts, using measuring instruments, such as dial indicators and thickness gauges. Tests operation of assembly by hand
  • Record bearing serial numbers and internal clearance.  Enter job details into computer system
  • Prepares assembly parts for shipping by wrapping, boxing and labeling according to customer specifications
  • Ability to operate lift truck
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition
  • Make sure all safety requirements are being met at all times
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned

 

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED

 

Experience

  • The minimum length of time required to attain quality and quantity standards of assigned work under normal supervision is three months.

 

Skills

  • Must having working command of the English language, and be able to communicate orally and in writing (basic oral instructions, simple written memos and instructions)
  • Must be able to read and interpret  shop drawings, follow routers, use simple math to perform basic calculations (plus decimals and fractions), and use basic hand held measuring tools
  • Ability to use wrenches, read gauges and mics
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Knowledge of bearing components and how they work together
  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Must be self-motivated
  • Have a good knowledge and understanding of Company policies

 

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to frequently lift/push/pull objects that are up to 25 pounds.  The use of a hoist is required for heavier weight over 25 pounds

 

 

Required Personal Protective Equipment:

All associates are required to wear protective eyewear, hearing protection, and slip resistant, steel-toed shoes at all times while on the plant floor.
