Aerospace Drive Systems, a division of Timken Power Systems, is currently seeking a Material Control Coordinator & Special Projects Manager to support operations for the Manchester, CT site.  The Material Control Coordinator & Special Projects Manager is a position that receives, maintains, and disburses inventory for manufacture and assembly.  The position utilizes skills and knowledge to efficiently process and accurately maintain the inventory required to produce precision aerospace components. This position will assist in the packaging and movement of materials to facilitate the flow of product into and out of the Shipping and Receiving area. The position will be responsible for leading and executing special projects within the Supply Chain organization.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead and facilitate special projects within the Supply Chain Organization.
  • Assist in the management of Supply Chain issues.
  • Identify training needs and assist in the development and delivery of associate training to maintain high performing teams.
  • Trains and develop new associates to foster a team environment (methods, equipment, frequencies, standards, etc.) as well as other skills and competencies, as appropriate.
  • Proactively identify situations where problems may arise by problem-solving with a cross functional team to address inventory concerns and implement recurrence prevention countermeasures
  • Maintain accurate inventories through problem solving capabilities through conscientious performance of inventory transactions.
  • Source the most efficient and economical freight forwarder and ensure availability.
  • Determine freight costs, transport capacity and packaging regulations.
  • Prepare and control documentation and labeling for all outgoing and incoming shipments, freight, and small parcel (customer shippers, OSP/OSM, returns, supplies, etc.).
  • Assist the internal customer with tracking shipments, expedited freight costs and delivery methods.
  • Facilitate the movement of parts in and out of the department in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate the logistics while performing and maintaining the material release process.
  • Visually inspect paperwork for conformance to specifications.
  • Ensure that standard procedures are followed in all aspects of work including product verification, inventory transactions, and documentation.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives utilizing lean manufacturing tools and techniques.
  • Conduct layered process audits.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • US Citizen
  • Associate degree required, bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience required, including a combination of manufacturing and product control.
  • Successful management of operative associates in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills required with ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
  • Strong ability to lead and manage projects from inception to completion and deliver expected results.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate technical concepts to variety of audiences.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Strong knowledge of shipping documents (general) and terminology.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and driving results.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy with problem solving abilities.
