Purpose:

The Dimensional Inspector responsibilities consist of the Visual and Dimensional inspections of inner and outer mounting surfaces. The Dimensional Inspector will determine if mounting surface areas are within acceptable specification in accordance with shop travelers and engine manuals. Inspectors will use specialized tooling (dial indicators, mikrokators, calipers, gage blocks, sunnen gage, federal gage, hardness tester etc.) for measuring ID’s and OD’s.  Each bearing has part number specific dimensions and are used to confirm all bearings are within acceptable tolerance. In addition, the Dimensional Inspector must be fully trained in plating and attain their nickel brush plating certificate.

    

Key Responsibilities:

  • Determine Plating requirements
  • Recording ID and OD sizes
  • Setting up gage blocks
  • Setting up ID and OD gages
  • Locating dimensional specification in the overhaul engine manuals
  • Inspection of plated bearings
  • All task involved in plating (cleaning, masking, sandblasting, plating)
  • Verifying proper buy-off of previous operations on job traveler
  • Setting up, measure, and recording hardness inspection
  • Documenting and filling out rejection tags
  • Creating rework routers in Epicor

     

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

  • High School Diploma with 1+ yrs. prior experience at bearing inspection; or manufacturing/aerospace 
  • Attention to detail in completing work task
  • Demonstrated computer aptitude
  • Able to understand use of calibrated measuring equipment while performing Dimensional Inspection
  • Interpret Bearing Repair Engine Manuals
  • Aptitude basic shop math

 

Pay Range: $ 22 - $26 hr.
