The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and executing manufacturing routings and processes to support Cone Drive products.  This position also supports researching areas for continuous improvement, manufacturing methods, and operational excellence.  This position will interface with a cross-functional team including operations, quality, design engineering, and product development.

 

Manufacturing Engineering duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop and maintain manufacturing routings based on drawing and engineering requirements
  • Create and maintain process instructions (work instructions, procedures, etc.)
  • Develops standard work and time standards for machining and assembly processes
  • Support tooling and workholding design and implementation
  • Own key manufacturing and quality control processes used to support production and assembly of Cone Drive products
  • Independently manage projects to implement new processes and process improvements
  • Support the launch of new product lines
  • Participate in Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Apply lean manufacturing techniques to facilitate TAKT, flow, pull, waste reduction, and support a continuous improvement culture
  • Participates in the application of data-driven methods to reduce costs and quality defects, such as FMEA, SPC, and PPAP
  • Support and manage NPI projects
  • Apply statistical methods to troubleshoot processes and conduct root cause analysis
  • Discuss and solve complex problems in a team setting
  • Maintains positive outlook and encourages and grows those around them

 

Requirements:

  • BS in mechanical or manufacturing engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • Experience running production machines both manual and CNC preferred
  • Knowledge of common machine tools including lathes, mills, mill/turn, grinders
  • Experience with process, tooling, and fixture design
  • Strong SolidEdge, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software capabilities and MS Office skills
  • Knowledge of special processing operations such as Heat Treat, Non-Destructive Testing, Shot Peening, Coating, Plating, and Painting
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of quality systems, including PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, GR&R, Process Capabilities Studies
  • Experience with LEAN initiatives and root cause analysis
  • Understanding of GD&T
  • Experience and understanding of precision inspection methods and equipment
  • Project Management skills
  • Self-motivated with strong drive to complete tasks and projects

This position may require access to United States export controlled technical data (“CTD”) and hardware under the Departments of US State (ITAR) and/or Commerce (EAR).  Eligible candidates are; US Citizens, Green Card holders, Asylees or others eligible to receive US export license authorizations.
