The EHS & Maintenance Manager is a multi-faceted role that encompasses the Environmental, Health and Safety function, along with facilities & equipment maintenance for the operations, including the tool room.  The EHS role oversees all programs, audit/compliance, and continual improvement initiatives in these categories, including a high level of engagement in Kaizen events.  
This role also oversees all facilities services and equipment repair, installation and preventive maintenance to support the operations. 

 

EHS Function:

  • Provide technical expertise and support to facility and operations staff related to Federal, State, and local Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance; Ensure associates are trained as necessary
  • Manage the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System Program and Cone Drive Health & Safety Program.
  • Track and prepare reports on injuries, incidents, workers compensation, emissions, effluents, energy consumption and waste generation as required by federal, state and corporate entities.
  • Conduct safety inspections of equipment and/or audits of processes for conformance with safety and environmental compliance requirements (MIOSHA, EPA, and other federal agencies, and State of Michigan)  
  • Lead injury/incident investigations; assist in the determination of root-cause analysis and recommends corrective/preventive actions to avoid recurrence of said injuries/incidents.
  • Develop written EHS programs, procedures, work instructions, job safety analyses, and other EHS documentation;
  • Management of the emergency response and first aid response programs.
  • Maintenance of the plant security (alarm, camera systems).

 

Maintenance Function:

  • Design, implement, and execute site level maintenance and facilities plan including corrective, preventative and predictive maintenance processes to maximize machine reliability and capability.
  • Ensure the effective scheduling of all equipment/system PM’s, inspections, repair activities are consistent with safety, quality and operating standards.  Supervises two salaried supervisors in this area.
  • Maintain local spare parts, tools and equipment, purchase replacement parts and components as needed and maintain knowledge of operations to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the facility and systems.
  • Oversight of the maintenance management system and ensure its proper full utilization.
  • Develop, research, and submit changes for equipment and machinery replacements/upgrades that will reduce equipment downtime, maintenance costs and time and still maintain our standards of quality and safety.

 

Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years' related experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelors Degree Environmental, Health & Safety, Operations Management or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Well-rounded knowledge of EH&S regulatory inputs, processes and best practices.
  • Experience with equipment maintenance programs and tools.
  • Continuous Improvement mindset.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
  • Ability to work co-operatively with diverse and cross functional work groups.

This position may require access to United States export controlled technical data (“CTD”) and hardware under the Departments of US State (ITAR) and/or Commerce (EAR).  Eligible candidates are; US Citizens, Green Card holders, Asylees or others eligible to receive US export license authorizations.
