This position provides managerial leadership to the Application Engineering Department. Through technical expertise and application project leadership, this role is responsible for supporting existing customers and new applications for products and services offered by Cone Drive.
This role is responsible for:
- Managing the Application Engineers and providing support in the quotation process by providing technical review and expertise.
- Developing the AE staff to function as a "best in class" customer interfacing technical sales team.
- Overseeing the management of large scale projects, including new application launches that require close coordination of cross-functional activity (RFQ to shipment) in order to achieve cost, quality, and delivery objectives.
- Managing the workload within the AE Department to ensure optimal levels of service to the customer.
- Working closely with Sales, Manufacturing, Product Engineering, Design Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Customers to ensure that customer technical requirements for application and special product needs are clearly defined and understood, and within the scope and capability of the company to deliver profitably.
- Support Sales staff as required for face-to-face customer meetings and negotiations in support of RFQ and order delivery.
Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related.
- Prior engineering and sales experience required (3-5 years), preferably in the same or related field.
- Prior management experience, in an engineering, sales, and/or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and sound knowledge in mechanical engineering principles.
- Demonstrated customer interfacing experience and success.
- Excellent communication skills (written, spoken, presentation).
- Demonstrated drive for continuous improvement.
- Experience with related rotating or motion control equipment or applications.
This position may require access to United States export controlled technical data (“CTD”) and hardware under the Departments of US State (ITAR) and/or Commerce (EAR).
