The New Product Supplier Development Engineer is responsible for owning the full cycle process on all new products from procurement, sourcing, developing and assessing suppliers. This position is also responsible for leading and being the key communicator on all new product launches and interfacing with other teams as needed to ensure early supplier collaboration.
Main Responsibilities Include:
- Interface with cross-functional teams to prioritize supplier development needs by to improve cost competitiveness or supply constraints.
- Procurement on all new products includes: Researching markets, Sourcing, Negotiating and Buying of Goods, Materials and Services to meet GGB’s operational requirements (materials/components are REACH compliant with a focus on sustainability and ESG – Environmental Social Governance)
- Supplier Development & qualification of supplier product / process of new purchased parts through APQP process working with Sourcing, Engineering, Quality,
- Manufacturing and the supplier (PPAP, Supplier process audits…)
- Support Supplier APQP (Advanced Product & Quality Planning) process to develop suppliers and products to the point of successful/on-time PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and full production readiness based on GGB and Customer needs
- Coordinates with customer care, manufacturing engineering, quality and supply chain on component quality / delivery issues and supplier initiatives
- Performs capability assessments with key suppliers to evaluate the application of advanced quality tools, manufacturing capabilities, material management, and lean maturity
- Assists in the development, approval, and maintenance of material specifications, vendor instructions, quality assurance procedures, supplier documents, etc.
