Timken Belts, located in Springfield, MO, is searching for production operators to work evening and night shifts. 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Belts Operator is responsible for accurately and efficiently producing various belt types by following detailed work instructions, production schedules, and verbal/written directives. This role requires strong attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and effective communication within a team environment.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 
•    Follow detailed instructions of assignment including but not limited to: work instruction, production schedules, and verbal/written instructions.
•    Interpret and follow production tickets to ensure accurate and efficient production of various belt types.
•    Operate equipment such as hydraulic machines or forklifts etc.
•    Ensure quality standards are met using gauges, measuring tools, and visual inspection. 
•    Demonstrate strong attention to detail in all tasks. 
•    Troubleshoot (and sometimes diagnose) routine mechanical issues.
•    Maintain adequate housekeeping, ensuring clean and organized work area.  
•    Must practice all safety procedures and complete necessary trainings related to job duty. 
•    Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and support staff. 
•    Work any shift, including overtime and weekends as needed.
•    Perform all other relative duties as required or as directed


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required 
•    High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
•    Manufacturing experience.
•    Ability to read, write, and speak effectively for general understanding of required documentation, instructions, and procedures.
•    Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, fractions, decimals)

Preferred
•    1+ year of manufacturing experience.
•    Familiarity with safety protocols, including:
        Wearing PPE (steel toe shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection).
        Awareness of Lockout/Tagout procedures.
•    Formal safety training or forklift certification is a plus but not required.
•    Mechanical Aptitude demonstrated ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems is preferred.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
•    Must be able to stand, sit, use hands and arms.
•    Must be able to lift/carry weight up to 50 pounds. 
         Moving or lifting weight above 50 pounds requires assistance from another employee or a lifting devise/hoist
•    Perform repetitive tasks.
•    Must be comfortable working in a non-climate-controlled environment (hot in summer, cold in winter).

Language Skills:  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and complete necessary production forms.  Ability to speak effectively with fellow employees and/or customers. 

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, rate, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, schedule, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several variables; problem solving ability.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is may be frequently exposed to chemicals, hot/cold conditions, or noisy conditions.

Required Personal Protective Equipment: Employee is required to wear proper safety eyewear and steel-toed shoes at all times while on the plant floor.
