Position Summary: This is a 1st shift position. The Inspector is responsible for the day-to-day completion of work assignments in compliance with Lovejoy’s quality management system. The position requires a self-driven associate with quality systems body of knowledge.   Responsible for applying lean manufacturing principals to help facilitated the ongoing support and execution of the quality management system.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and document receiving inspection, process inspection, and final inspection of product.
  • Conduct and document calibration of gages.
  • Control external calibration activities and documents.
  • Purchase gaging and quality supplies.
  • Conduct and document process audits (EASE).
  • Generate nonconforming product documents – work with purchasing or engineering on nonconforming material disposition.
  • Provide feedback to production and respond to the immediate needs of production by troubleshooting, assisting, and securing corrective action.
  • Perform special projects and assignments in support of the department or facility as defined by the Quality Manager.
  • Train production employees on proper use of gaging equipment and blueprint reading including GD&T.
  • Collect/analyze/report data to support key Quality metrics
  • Support failure analysis investigations to determine root cause of product/component failures
  • Ensure inspection equipment is suitable to meet the design intent and calibration is controlled.
  • Control record retention and organization of quality documents.
  • Complete first article (FAI) and final inspection and testing per military/government specification including completion/assembly of material certification, test reports, certificates of conformance and source inspection required documents.

Technical/Functional Skills:

  • Experience in use of gages (metrology)
  • Experience in blueprint reading
  • Experience in GD&T
  • Experience in Gage calibration
  • Experience with vision inspection system and programs (e.g.:  Keyence)
  • Proficiency with software packages (MS Office, and Statistical software)
  • Must have organizational, analytical, and planning skills
  • Ability to interface with all levels of the organization and customers
  • Effective communication and technical writing skills are required.

 

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Associates’ preferred in quality control

 

The pay range for this role is $21.00 - $28.00/hr and is commensurate on experience and education and could pay more or less than the posted range. This full-time position is eligible for paid time off, 401k, and comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental and vision. 

 

This position may require access to United States export controlled technical data (“CTD”) and hardware under the Departments of US State (ITAR) and/or Commerce (EAR).  Eligible candidates are; US Citizens, Green Card holders, Asylees or others eligible to receive US export license authorizations. Candidate must be authorized to work in the US.
