At Standard Machine we design and manufacture high-quality parts for critical industries including pulp and paper, mining, oil and gas, chemical processing plants, steel mills, marine applications, transportation, military, and aerospace.
We are seeking 3 Summer Students in our machine shop in the respective areas of Administration, IT, and Production. These are TERM positions starting Monday July 6 2026, and concluding Friday August 28, 2026. The shifts are 7:00am – 3:30pm, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break and two 15-minute paid coffee breaks.

Job Requirements – All Positions
- Punctuality and reliability in attending scheduled shifts.
- Report to assigned team leader, clocking in and out for shifts each day.
- Follow instructions and complete work on schedule.
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures.
- Assist with continuous improvement projects under the direction of the team leader.
Administration Key Responsibilities
- Scan and electronically file job files.
- Reception coverage including answering phones and admitting visitors.
- AR/AP coverage for data entry tasks.
IT Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and set up IT equipment.
- Troubleshoot minor computer issues for employees.
- Sort, label, and map IT equipment.
Production Key Responsibilities
- Assist machinists and mechanics by cleaning machines, parts, and areas.
- Operate hammers, drills, saws, nail guns, and other hand and power tools.
- Yard maintenance including moving material, organizing stock, and disposal of material.
- Coverage and assistance in shipping and receiving department.
Qualifications
Our ideal candidate has graduated from high school or is entering their final year.
