We are seeking Machinist(s) who are interested in gear cutting, turning, milling, and eager to learn and expand in the area of grinding.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints and engineered drawings
- Run variety of machines including lathes and mills when required
- Understand tool limitations and controls during operation
- Operate machines within tight tolerances and have a good knowledge of feeds and speeds
- Measure precisely utilizing mic’s, calipers, bore gauges and hold tight tolerances
- Operate travelling overhead crane up to 20 tonnes, and know rigging requirements
- Inspect work according to ISO and Quality Assurance standards
- Capable of working unsupervised on own machine.
- Troubleshoot within area and on machines
- Perform basic preventative maintenance on equipment
- Assure compliance with appropriate safety practices and procedures
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures
- Assist with continuous improvement projects under the direction of the team leader
- Complete autonomous maintenance of equipment as per daily check lists
Qualifications
Education
- Journeyman Machinist certificate is considered an asset, but not required
- 3rd/4th Year Apprentice
- Years Experience can be measured for Equivalency
Competencies
- Experience with large manual vertical lathes
- Ability to run variety of manual and CNC machines: lathes, mills, grinders, slotters, gear cutting equipment, including hobbers and shapers
- Commitment to providing outstanding service
- Attention to detail with a focus on quality
- Experience in a shop environment, preferably with custom ability
- Ability to operate a crane with proper rigging techniques
