We are seeking a Machinist to operate Cylindrical and Gear Grinding Machines (Night Shift)

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints and engineered drawings.
  • Setup and operation of multiple Profile grinding machines and cylindrical grinders
  • Having basic knowledge of programing and operation of
  • Understand tool limitations and tool life during operations.
  • Able to machine within tight tolerances and know feeds and speeds of different materials.
  • Capable of measuring tight tolerances using precision measuring instruments, including mics, verniers, indicators, pie tape, and bore gauges.
  • Operate jib cranes as well as travelling overhead crane up to 50 tones.
  • Assures compliance with all safety practices and procedures.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures and our 5S program.
  • Assist with continuous improvement projects under the direction of the team leader, or manager of department.
  • Complete daily maintenance checks of equipment.
  • Good communication skills for shift change logs

 

Qualifications

  • Our ideal candidate will have over 2 years of experience as well as the following competencies.
  • A good understanding of gear geometry

Education

  • Journeyman Machinist certificate is considered an asset, but not required
  • Years experience could be measured for equivalency

Competencies

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to operate jib cranes as well as overhead cranes using the proper rigging techniques.
  • Experience with manual lathes and or vertical boring mills
  • Ability to run variety of CNC machines: lathes and mills is considered an asset
  • Commitment to use their high skill level to provide quality products as well as deliver a high level of service to our end users.
  • Attention to detail with a focus on quality.
  • Experience in a shop environment, preferably within a custom machine shop.
  • Reliable track record at previous employment.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Live in city or willing to relocate to area.
