Position Summary:
Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team to achieve the goals and objectives of the Plant’s business plan, focusing on the effective implementation of engineering process standards, continuous improvement initiatives, and the development of processes that ensure optimal efficiency in manufacturing execution. This role is accountable for supervising, directing, and controlling all engineering and maintenance activities across all plant areas, including Grind, AI, TH CC1, and CC2. Responsibilities include major project management, capital budgeting, and cost control within assigned areas. Additionally, the position is responsible for driving and mentoring A3 projects in alignment with TMOS principles, ensuring operational excellence and sustainable performance.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Engineering & Technical Leadership: Provide strategic technical direction to manufacturing processes, driving efficiency and sustainable growth.
- Capital Budget & Cost Control: Develop and manage plant capital budget; forecast and track expenses to optimize cost performance.
- Major Project Execution: Lead equipment upgrades, installations, and continuous improvement projects aligned with safety, quality, and productivity standards.
- Organizational Capability Development: Build high-performance teams through TMP principles, cross-training, succession planning, and mentorship.
- Vendor & Technical Oversight: Evaluate and select technical vendors; ensure compliance with safety and quality requirements.
- Root Cause Analysis & Problem Solving: Conduct structured RCA to resolve safety, quality, and production issues effectively.
- Strategic Initiatives for Operational Excellence: Drive safety, quality, and cost optimization projects, ensuring compliance with IATF, ISO14001, and regulatory standards.
- Maintenance Leadership: Direct predictive and preventive maintenance strategies using KPIs (MTF, MTBF) to maximize reliability and minimize downtime.
- Budget Optimization & Inventory Management: Optimize departmental budget and manage critical spare parts inventory within MRO systems.
- SAP Maintenance Process Management: Ensure preventive maintenance orders are generated, tracked, and executed in SAP.
- Safety & Continuous Improvement Culture: Promote operational discipline and implement corrective actions to maintain world-class standards.
Basic Qualifications:
Required – Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 9+ years’ experience in Project Management, Process Development within a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Technical / Functional Skills:
- Deep knowledge of manufacturing processes, engineering standards, and maintenance best practices.
- Solid understanding in predictive and preventive maintenance strategies, including KPI management (MTF, MTBF) and SAP systems.
- Excellent communication skills in both Spanish and English (written & verbal) including the ability to present to all levels of management and customer personnel with clear articulation of subject matter.
- Strong capability in capital project planning, budgeting, and execution.
- Proficiency in data analysis for cost control, forecasting, and process improvement.
- Solid understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards (IATF, ISO14001, NOMs).
- Ability to read engineering drawings and manage vendor evaluation and selection.
- Skilled in Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies (A3, TMOS).
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills to develop technical teams and drive cross-functional collaboration.
- Excellent communication and organizational agility to manage multiple projects and priorities.
