Purpose and Scope

Responsible of monthly tax filings (VAT and income tax) as well as of VAT returns, leading over requests issued by Mexican Tax Service Administration (SAT) in regards VAT return claims, and to actively review and do proper follow up regarding payment receipts not issued by vendors to reduce the monthly VAT not creditable amount due to lack of full compliance of the conditions required by SAT.

Responsible of accounting compliance activities such as Blackline monthly reconciliations

Alternate support for treasury for Mexico operations, with no segregation of duties, since this position does not have any responsibilities or activities over Purchasing, AR and/or AP.

 

Responsibilities

  • •    Being updated with dynamic Mexican tax regulations and changes, specially those related to VAT & withholdings applicable to new tax programs and/or incentives.
    •    Responsible for providing information for monthly tax and annual filings for federal taxes (VAT & Income Tax) to EY.
    •    To prepare monthly GL accounts reconciliations and proper follow-up of delinquent items when/where needed.
    •    Alternate support as Treasury Jr Analyst for Mexico operations, such as payment processing, bank reconciliations, end-of-month closing activities, and quarterly reporting.
    •    To prepare detailed breakdown of VAT favorable balance per CFDI (tax invoice) including relevant data.
    •    To reconcile monthly VAT breakdown to monthly tax filing and accounting records.
    •    To take care of requirements from SAT regarding VAT return claims, carrying out the analysis, tasks derived and preparing the paperwork related to such requirements.
    •    To make sure VAT related activity in the regarding GL’s is properly booked with enough relevant data, such as Tax ID, UUID, Amount and JE for invoice booking.
    •    To perform mid-month reviews of vendors compliance issuing payment receipts.
    •    Coordinate with purchasing / supply chain strategies for vendors that regularly fail to comply

 

Technical/Functional Skills

  • Strong skills using SAT tax platform
  • Hands on experience utilizing SAP (FI/CO)
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • Strong sense of urgency
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Knowledge in accounting principles

 

 

  • Education / Experience
  • Required –  Bachelor's Degree in Accounting with 1 year of related experience as a General Accounting and 2 years in Tax Compliance.
