Position Summary:
Timken is seeking a reliable Electrician that will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, controls, and equipment across the Shiloh facility to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This role supports production continuity, plant safety, and continuous improvement initiatives by applying technical expertise to electrical, control, and automation systems.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Perform installation, maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems, including motors, drives, switchgear, distribution panels, transformers, conduit, raceways, wiring, lighting, and outlets.
- Diagnose and repair control systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), motor starters, relays, and associated instrumentation.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, P&IDs, and technical manuals to plan and carry out work.
- Perform preventative maintenance activities, adjust and calibrate equipment, and document maintenance tasks in the CMMS.
- Respond to emergency electrical breakdowns and participate in on-call rotation as required.
- Ensure compliance with National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70E, local codes, and Timken safety policies; enforce lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Assist with electrical installations during capital projects, machine installations, and facility upgrades; coordinate with engineers, contractors, and operations to minimize downtime.
- Apply troubleshooting methodologies to complex electrical/mechanical issues and propose permanent corrective actions.
- Support continuous improvement, 5S, and reliability initiatives by providing technical suggestions, completing root cause analyses, and leading corrective action implementation.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, parts inventory accountability, and provide clear shift-to-shift communication.
- Train and mentor junior electricians, apprentices, and maintenance technicians in safe work practices and electrical troubleshooting techniques.
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 18 years of age or older.
- Must be eligible to work in the US.
- Journeyman electrician license or completion of an accredited electrical apprenticeship program preferred
- Minimum 3–5 years of industrial/plant electrical maintenance experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Demonstrated experience with PLCs, VFDs, motor controls, and industrial electrical systems.
- Strong ability to read/interpret electrical prints, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Proficient in troubleshooting electrical and control system faults with structured diagnostic approaches.
- Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, around rotating equipment, and in high-noise environments following safety protocols.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
- Technical certificate or associate degree in metrology, manufacturing technology, or related field preferred.
- Formal metrology certification (e.g., ASQ Certified Calibration Technician, ASQ-CST, or equivalent).
- Experience with automated inspection, fixture design, and probe calibration techniques.
- Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and measurement system analysis (MSA/Gage R&R).
