Smith Services is currently seeking a Fabricator/Welder to support operations at the Princeton, WV site. This is a Dayshift position. This position is required to support the overall shop in the performance of assembling structural forms, such as machinery frames and pressure vessels; weld repairs as required for components, accessories and piece part repair/overhauls, and provide weld support for internal tooling and equipment used in the shop.
Responsibilities:
The welder will be required to train and test for certification. They will be required to process work orders through the weld shop or other departments as instructed per the quality system guidelines, including reading blueprints, travelers, specifications and other technical documents.
Duties Include:
- The Fabricator will be responsible for successfully achieving and maintaining their weld certifications.
- Fabrication, Tig welding, Stick welding, Mig welding, soldering, restack of stator iron, and rebar of rotors.
- Fabricator is responsible for managing the segregation, control and traceability for all raw materials, weld rods, and metals in the weld shop in accordance with the company quality system.
- Various welding duties while following customer specifications.
- Ensure the quality of all work performed.
- Complete all related paperwork accurately and thoroughly.
- Demonstrate the ability to understand and utilize drawings, sketches, and geometric dimensioning, tolerances, and repair manuals.
- Providing feedback to engineering on discrepancies, drawing errors, quality errors, etc. in an effort to resolve problems and prevent recurrences.
- Ability to work overtime, on weekends and on holidays when necessary to meet production demands is required.
Qualifications:
- Must have both verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have the ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and/or diagram form.
- Must be able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Must have mathematical skills with the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals, along with ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
- Must be able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have 3-5 years of Fabricating/Welding experience.
