PURPOSE

The Production Planner ensures that the production department meets its scheduling goals by assisting the Production Manager with planning, scheduling, executing, and directing production activities. Your primary attention and focus will be managing work orders, making sure that all raw material has been allocated and the resources that are needed to complete the work order are available, or will be available for timely completion, and can ship as per our confirmed ship date. Resources include, but are not limited to, materials, labor, and outside vendors. This key position will interact daily with fellow team members. You will work closely with Sales, Production, Customer Service, Purchasing, and Shipping to ensure a smooth and efficient flow of orders. This position is very hands on in a fast-paced environment and you must be able to change gears quickly and often. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans and prepares production work orders for detailed scheduling taking under consideration long-term, mid-term and day-to-day requirements.
  • Prepares, reviews, and updates production and labor capacity.
  • Prepares and maintains production lead times taking under consideration capacity and material availability.
  • Ensures that work orders created for production are complete and accurate prior to scheduling.
  • Monitors work in process (WIP), and able to communicate status to other departments.
  • Works with purchasing to ensure that materials will be ready as per agreed arrival date.
  • Communicates status of parts and materials using ERP system and manual reporting methods to ensure parts availability.
  • Coordinates with various functions to set priorities, expedite and complete production activities to avoid schedule delays.
  • Reviews and revise work order BOM’s if needed to ensure that the correct material utilization is used, and that inventory is up to date.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma required
  • 2-5 Years of experience in Production Planning preferred.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship **NO SPONSORSHIP is available for this position**
