Purpose of Position

This role will lead development and deployment of a Timken software platform that converts product geometry and tooling data into manufacturing models and instructions—enabling product print (or change) to manufacturing order release in under 24 hours. This position will also support gauging/inspection software and provide global plant troubleshooting to reduce manufacturing cost and accelerate new product launches.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop analytical manufacturing process models with process engineering teams across bearing disciplines.
  • Define equipment capabilities and routing rules in the system; ensure alignment with SAP Production Order Scheduling.
  • Convert process models into production code: operator setup/operation instructions, CNC/gauging programs, and Quality process control plans.
  • Coordinate bearing dimensional data requirements with Product Design to enable accurate process models.
  • Design, develop, and maintain metrology/gauging software (C++, C#/.NET); integrate software with hardware (data acquisition, instrumentation, motor drives, external I/O). Lead and mentor the international software development team.
  • Provide global plant support and troubleshooting for system or operational issues.
  • Manage projects using standard tools for planning, resourcing, and corrective actions.
  • Occasional domestic/international travel to support startups (<5%).

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s in mechanical or manufacturing engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience.
  • Proven software development experience in Windows using Visual Studio, MFC, C++ and C#/.NET.
  • Manufacturing experience, machine control systems, and system integration knowledge.
  • Familiarity with GD&T, engineering drawings, and product data needs for manufacturing.
  • Experience with MATLAB, LabVIEW, JMP and strong Excel/Access skills.
  • Demonstrated project management, problem-solving, and effective communication/teamwork skills.
