Purpose: The objective of this position is to serve as a team member responsible for conducting analytical testing on lubricants and process fluids as well as assist with completing complementary testing in the Metallography and Thermal Analysis Labs. This position works closely with engineers and project leaders to ensure that tests are developed and executed in a timely manner and in alignment with the needs of the business. This position contributes to laboratory leadership from an advanced testing perspective to include developing and conducting associated testing, maintaining a safe/clean laboratory environment, and interfacing with team members to maintain equipment.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Perform tests to evaluate lubricants and process fluids in accordance with the needs of R&D and document results in reports
  • Provide support for Metallography and Thermal Analysis Labs.
  • Assume responsibility for critical lab equipment calibrations and preventative maintenance.
  • Develop ideas for continuous improvement of laboratory productivity and test methods.
  • Complete 5S audits (as assigned), maintain a clean safe and orderly laboratory; ensure proper machine maintenance and operation and safe storage of chemicals and fluids.
     

Qualifications

  • Associate degree with 4-6 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of relevant experience in a STEM field (chemistry, materials science, biology, or related).
  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with common materials/chemicals and their uses. Prior experience with performing analytical testing on fluids is a plus.   
  • Familiarity with industrial standards. Prior experience with developing or improving standard operating procedures is a plus.
  • Experience with operating and maintaining machinery.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team skills.
