Job Title: Shipping/Receiving Utility                                                                

 

Overall Purpose: Serve as the lead to the Group Leader assisting with the oversite, efficiency and training of Shipping/Receiving Operations. Daily functions may change depending on demands, staffing and business needs. Facilitates the flow all products moving in and out of the shipping and receiving department, utilizing various computer system software tools for processing to maintain accurate movement records. Coordinates with production scheduling, production operations, customer service, external service providers, and others to achieve effective and efficient processes.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

  • Maintain a safe work environment for associates and escalate any safety or environmental incidents.
  • Ensure material is packaged and shipped correctly per documented processes and instructions.
  • Act as a role model, coach and trainer for associates and foster a team environment.
  • Ensure proper material supply to meet production needs.
  • Troubleshoot shipping/receiving issues and resolve delays. 
  • Ensure that standard procedures are followed by all shipping/receiving associates
  • Support improvement projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Document materials and supplies disposition by recording units delivered and location of units.
  • Prepare finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing product.
  • Maintain material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness in all shipping and receiving areas.
  • Assist in other areas where needed.

 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • 2 years of experience in a manufacturing warehouse environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Basic computer skills using MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, etc.
  • Working knowledge or experience with ERP system (SAP preferred)
  • Must be fork truck certified.
  • Must be able to operate standard forklift, stand up forklift, and hand operated lifts.

  • Loud production environment; exposure to metals, lubricants, seasonal heat

 

Protective Clothing and Personal Devices:

  • Safety glasses/shields; appropriate manufacturing close-toed safety footwear; hearing protection may be required, or other protective equipment as needed.
