Position Summary:
Serve as the on-site operational leader for the facility, responsible for daily execution of production, safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance. Act as the primary backup to the Plant Manager and provide leadership coverage for all plant functions when required, ensuring continuity of operations and business performance.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Lead Plant Operations Execution – Own daily production execution across assigned value streams including assembly, B&I, supervisors and utilities. Ensure schedule attainment, labor efficiency, and first-pass yield meet or exceed targets.
- Serve as Primary Backup to Plant Manager – Provide leadership coverage for all plant functions in the absence of the Plant Manager. Support or lead cross-functional areas including Quality, Maintenance, Materials, EHS, and indirect support functions as needed.
- Drive Safety & Regulatory Compliance – Ensure safe operations across the plant. Lead safety initiatives, enforce standards, conduct audits, and drive proactive hazard elimination. Support compliance with AAR, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and Lead Supervisors and Employees – Directly lead supervisors and hourly employees (~24+ total headcount). Build a high-performing, accountable team through coaching, performance management, talent development, and engagement.
- Drive Continuous Improvement & Cost Performance – Lead lean initiatives, Kaizen events, and waste reduction efforts. Monitor scrap, rework, labor variances, and productivity metrics. Implement structured root cause countermeasures.
- Coordinate Cross-Functional Alignment – Partner with off-site functional leaders (Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, IT, Materials, HR) to ensure plant objectives are achieved and constraints are resolved quickly.
Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma
- Minimum of 7 years experience in manufacturing and 2 years in supervision
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
- Certified Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma training
- Associate and/or Bachelors degree
- SAP experience
- AAR, specifically M-1003 Quality Assurance Specification
- Training and facilitating skills; Group problem solving skills
- Strong leadership and critical thinking skills; Analytical skills – capturing and interpreting data
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
