Position Summary:

 

Timken is seeking an experienced, strategic, and collaborative Human Resources Manager to lead all aspects of HR for our large, complex bearing manufacturing facility in Iron Station, North Carolina. Supporting more than 600 employees across multiple operations and shifts, this role serves as the site’s senior HR leader, a member of the plant leadership team, and a trusted advisor to the General Manager and other business leaders.

 

The HR Manager develops and executes people strategies that support business, operational, and workforce priorities. This position oversees employee relations, workforce planning, talent acquisition, compensation, performance management, leadership development, succession planning, training, organizational effectiveness, change management, compliance, and employee engagement. The successful candidate will combine strategic leadership with hands-on execution in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

 

This leader will develop a multidisciplinary team that includes site HR professionals, a training coordinator, and two occupational health nurses. The role also partners closely with corporate HR teams and external workforce organizations, using data to identify workforce risks, strengthen talent pipelines, improve retention, and build long-term operational capability. Success requires a visible presence on the plant floor, sound judgment in complex and sensitive situations, and the ability to influence leaders while earning employees’ trust.

 

 

Essential Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead the development and implementation of the HR strategy and ensure it is translated into practical and prioritized HR tactics.

 

  • Provide on-going advice and support to business partners on all aspects of HR, ensuring that HR solutions are provided in the most appropriate and cost-effective way.

 

  • Coach / mentor managers and supervisors on effective management, communication, and associate engagement.

 

  • Act as a trusted advisor for employee concerns and mediate conflict resolution.

 

  • Manage and monitor performance evaluation systems, including performance reviews and development plans.

 

  • Oversee the recruitment and selection process to attract, hire, onboard, and retain qualified candidates.

 

  • Develop and manage training programs to enhance employee development and career growth.

 

  • Implement and update HR policies and procedures.

 

  • Provide key HR metrics and analytics to leadership for informative decision-making and strategy alignment.

 

  • Promote a safe and healthy work environment while ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.

 

  • Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture that promotes employee engagement.

 

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations.

 

  • Manage the Talent Management process, ensuring the development of talent and addressing performance issues. Assist managers with Succession Planning for key positions.

 

  • Responsible for identifying talent needs and development gaps to provide effective training and development programs for associates. Work with functional managers to review and build management capability, ensuring development needs are captured and acted upon in order to produce high performing teams.

 

  • Champion company compensation and benefits strategies while advising the corporate function on local practices and changes in labor market to attract and retain top tier talent.

 

  • Develop and manage Employee Relations strategies to support business objectives while ensuring full compliance with local regulations/internal Timken policies and procedures and maintaining a union free status.

 

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.

 

  • 3 years human resource experience within manufacturing.

 

  • Must be eligible to work in the US.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

 

  • Master’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.

 

  • 7+ years experience in human resources. 

 

  • Professional HR certification, PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP.

 

  • Proven ability to lead HR Teams.

 

  • Experience in training and development.

 

  • Experience with HR software and tools.

 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

 

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

 

  • Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution and decision-making abilities.

 

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
