•           High school diploma or GED

                        Acceptable math skills

                        Degree in Machine Tool Technology (**basic core courses required – see HR for listing)

                        Strong planning / organizing skills

                        Ability to read and interpret mechanical prints

                        At least three years as a machinist

                        An acceptable level of mechanical aptitude

  •         Stand upto 95% of the work day
  •         Lift upto 40lbs 90% of the work day

                        Requires ability to lift and do material handling

Job Tasks / Responsibilities:

• Plan, layout, construct, alter, and repair a wide variety of production tooling and dies for specialty part production
• Prints may be available for the design of some tooling while other tooling may have to be made from sketches or sample parts
• Be able to interpret drawings, sketches, and layout work in proper organizational sequence
• Perform a wide variety of machine tool functions requiring difficult or unusual set ups.
• Determine methods used to maintain very close tolerances and inter-related dimensions
• Perform highly-skilled bench work, lay out sequence of operations to insure proper fitting and assembly
• Recognize and report for correction any errors in prints and operational methods and sequences
• Report any defective material, tooling, or machines
• Report any unusual conditions to the department supervisor
• Maintain knowledge of current quality and safety system(s) and other regulatory compliance related to this position.
• Refer to Ergonomic Job Descriptions for the physical job requirements.
• This position may be responsible to direct the work of other machinists.
• This position is responsible to the department supervisor
