Position Summary:
The Safety & Training analyst designs, implements, and monitors workplace safety initiatives and employee training programs. This role analyzes safety data, identifies operational risks, maintains OSHA compliance, and conducts accident investigations. Additionally, the analyst tracks training completion metrics, develops instructional materials, and fosters a proactive safety culture across the production floor.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Ensures that safety is the top priority for all Honea Path plant employees. Leads, develops, executes, and maintains an effective strategy to identify and minimize behavioral and conditional risks to reduce safety injuries. Effectively communicates safety performance and improvements to all affected employees of the organization.
- Supports facility by ensuring safety regulation compliance (regulation interpretation). Represents the company in OSHA inspections, performs facility compliance audits, prepares reports, and makes recommendations for improvements.
- Monitors changes in laws, regulations, and standards. Communicates changes to responsible parties and provides education/training to ensure compliance with changes.
- Leads and facilitates teams to conduct investigations, utilizing root cause problem solving, for all significant incidents. Utilizes safety background, experience, and expertise to determine the correct root cause of incidents are identified and effective corrective actions are implemented. Drives actions to completion.
- Leads or participates in safety related teams/committees. Provides direction, education, and support for team/committee representatives.
- Maintains facility OSHA compliant Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by:
- Assisting purchasing in contract evaluations.
- Ensuring proper accident/incident investigation, documentation, and follow-up.
- Developing and maintaining safety policy procedures/documentation, maintaining complete and up to date safety records (i.e. OSHA, training, Program Evaluation Profile (PEP), inspection, observation, etc.)
- Monitor and maintain safety related expenses.
- Directs all site first responders and ensures their annual re-certifications.
- Works with corporate safety team to conduct annual training, audits, risk analysis, best practice sharing, and other activities as required.
- Leads, develops, executes, and maintains employee training and development program that ensures optimum utilization of individual employee skills and abilities. Ensures employee training and education is complete and up to date to meet safety regulations; and to promote a proactive team safety culture.
- Continually assesses, develops, improves, and implements processes (i.e. training, job safety analysis, safety observations, PEP, etc.) to meet the facilities short and long-term safety goals.
- Identifies best practices through education and benchmarking.
- Provides support to employees regarding any employee relations or benefit concerns to help find solutions.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with preference given to Human Resources, Business or Safety related majors.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a Human Resources, Health and Safety role or Production Supervisor role.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- In depth knowledge of OSHA regulations/compliance.
- In depth knowledge of Risk Score analysis.
- In depth knowledge of Ergonomic analysis.
- Knowledge of Local, State, and Federal laws and regulations related to safety.
- Experience and skill in creating and conducting safety training.
- Technical report writing and data analysis.
- Experience participating in, and leading cross functional teams.
- Experience in leading and coordinating training in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in project management.
- Basic computer skills, with some use of SAP.
