POSITION SUMMARY:
The Material Handlers are responsible for performing a variety of material handling tasks, including but not limited to forklift procedures, shipping and receiving, and warehouse scale operations. This role will deal with repetitive duties, primarily associated with ensuring production orders are being fulfilled in a safe and timely manner. This may include receiving, sorting, staging, weighing, and distributing materials. This position plays a key role in maintaining efficient workflow while adhering to safety, quality, and operational standards. Material Handlers may progress through three levels if they have met the required skills and qualifications for each role.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow detailed instructions of assignment including but not limited to; work instruction, blueprints, route cards, and verbal/written instructions.
- Accurately pick materials from designated storage locations using inventory systems and ensuring product is labeled with correct information in compliance with company standards.
- Weigh materials and verify counts to ensure accuracy in inventory and production needs.
- Ensure all products are put away in designated storage locations.
- Complete required documentation accurately, stage and align materials for production, verify data integrity, and ensure timely delivery to meet customer requirements.
- Utilize site SAP system to accurately enter and manage transactions.
- Operate forklift as needed to support inventory movement.
- Maintain adequate housekeeping, ensuring clean and organized work area.
- Must practice all safety procedures and complete necessary trainings related to job duty.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and support staff.
- Perform all other relative duties as required or as directed.
Core Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to move stack load and unload products.
- Inspect forklift daily to ensure proper functioning and report any mechanical issues.
- Regularly load and unload trucks to support inbound and outbound material flow, ensuring timely and accurate handling of goods.
- Operate forklift with precision and care to safely transport heavy and irregular shaped components, such as augers throughout facility
- Prepare and receive materials for shipment to suppliers for outside processing.
- Print and tag materials with correct labels and ensure they are accurately put away in their designated locations.
- Weigh materials and verify counts to ensure accuracy in inventory and production needs.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically material handling experience.
- Must have the ability to operate forklift and obtain a certification or license on the job.
- Willingness to learn and become proficient in SAP.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Required
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Manufacturing experience, refer to qualifications for job level.
- Ability to read, write, and speak effectively for general understanding of required documentation, instructions, and procedures.
- Preferred
- Certifications from College or Technical School
