Timken Distribution Center is currently seeking a 1st Shift Team Lead for our Machine Packaging Department at our facility located in Duncan, SC. Monday-Friday 7am-3pm, plus overtime as required. A successful warehouse employee values safety, accuracy, productivity, and customer service.

The Team Lead is the first link in the operations help chain and will be knowledgeable of all department activities and procedures. The Team Lead will be a strong communicator that can provide support and leadership for their designated area (people and processes) while facilitating safe, quality-conscious and efficient shift operations.

The Team Lead will be responsible for coordinating, monitoring and addressing daily activities and issues to ensure the department is performing to meet customer and business needs.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Problem solve general warehousing issues that develop during the course of the shift.
  • Ensure that employees and resources produce quality parts in an efficient manner.
  • Maintain a strong team, with communication between employees, shifts and plant leadership.
  • Ensure that all policies and procedures are adhered to by all employees.
  • Provide input to Supervisors for performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and corrective actions.
  • Plan, coordinate and monitor training initiatives.
  • Ensure all jobs are performed on shift either by delegation or self-involvement.

Safety:

  • Identifies potential safety issues and actively pursues safety solutions and improvements.
  • Actively supports/follows safety policies/specifications.
  • Encourages others to support safety training when required.
  • Assists in accident investigation/inspections/training.
  • Drives area housekeeping & organization activities.

Quality:

  • Monitor and maintain good quality results.
  • Ensure compliance with work instructions and standards.
  • Coordinate the response to quality problems or findings.
  • Assist in identifying root cause of quality trends and initiate corrective actions activities.
  • Assist with or offer feedback to modify work instructions as needed.
  • Perform layered process audits as scheduled.

Operational Excellence:

  • Ensure the daily schedule is communicated and executed, considering shipping deadliness and customer type.
  • Monitor workflow bottlenecks and identify issues affecting production.
  • Monitor supplies and equipment needed.
  • Backfill or support other areas as needed to maintain continuity and product flow.
  • Coordinate with Supervisors and Leadership on items such as schedules and other resources.
  • Verify equipment safety sign-offs and checklists are complete.
  • Assist in equipment & process troubleshooting, alerting Maintenance and/or IT of issues.
  • Work with Maintenance in scheduling (includes prioritizing) of repairs & downtime.
  • Monitor status of material flow.
  • Understand and train employees on transaction procedures.
  • Complete daily layered process audits and Staffing Rollup entries.

Technical/Functional Skills:

  • Team lead or supervisor experience.
  • Proper problem solving awareness.
  • Demonstrated SAP and Red Prairie (JDA) experience for running reports, understanding processes.
  • Thorough understanding of functional area.
