Position Overview:
As an intern within the Lovejoy team, your responsibilities will vary based on the specific department you are placed in.  Our internship program is designed to provide opportunities for students to work on projects that impact the business and drive value across the function. This is a temporary summer intern role. 

 

During this internship, students will gain meaningful and translatable experiences through value-added assignments as an active member of our operations team.  Projects for the summer could include:  

  • Gauge Plans for 80s Part Numbers
  • Programming new vision system for High Volume part number (Shifted new Gauging System for Dawn).
  • Calibrated Gauge Reduction Project
  • COTR workflow improvements (develop Tools to speed up reviews)
  • Projects Relevant to 80/20 not running yet.
  • CNC Time Studies for either Project Dawn assets or Keyseater.
  • Plant Map CAD updates.
  • RCCA on 80/20 focus WC’s to eliminate carryover – scheduling changes starting week of 3/30
  • Tooling plans for 80 machines to eliminate downtime
  • Bar cutting moved to SH to free critical floor space in DG
  • Future state mapping for DG, SH – optimize work flow/reduce wasted motionSOP/SW – to capture best practice and build training standards
  • Troubleshoot and improve manufacturing processes, setups, fixtures, and cycle times; provide training and floor support as needed

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be a current Sophomore or Junior, enrolled in a full-time Bachelor's degree program (12 semester/credit hours) at an accredited four-year university.
    Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related discipline.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and basic CAM/CNC concepts preferred.
  • Comfortable using engineering and office software (e.g., Excel, CAD, data analysis tools).
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

 

 

The pay rate for this position is $20-24 and is commensurate on experience and education and could pay more or less than the posted range. This full-time position is eligible to participate in the company's short-term incentive program, paid time off, 401k, and comprehensive benefits package including, medical, dental and vision. 

 

This position may require access to United States export controlled technical data (“CTD”) and hardware under the Departments of US State (ITAR) and/or Commerce (EAR).  Eligible candidates are; US Citizens, Green Card holders, Asylees or others eligible to receive US export license authorizations. Candidate must be authorized to work in the US.
