PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Plant Support/Material Handler performs a variety of material handling and miscellaneous duties to support the Bucyrus Bearing Plant's operations.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Transport Materials: Move steel tubing, forgings, in-process stock, finished products, and other supplies between plants.
- Forklift Operations: Stack pallets and perform related duties with a forklift.
- Cleanliness and Safety: Collect and dispose of hazardous waste, keep work areas clean, and maintain equipment in an orderly manner.
- Weight Tracking: Spot-check weights on steel bundles monthly and manage the color coding system for steel inventory.
- MRP System Management: Enter steel and forgings into the MRP system, operate bar code scanners, and complete necessary documentation.
- Stock Management: Load and unload steel tubes, insert coolant plugs, and manage inventory in stock racks.
- Chip Disposal: Attend to chip disposal equipment, transport and dump chip baskets, and maintain cleanliness in disposal areas.
- Maintenance Tasks: Clear jams, clean chips from equipment, and perform minor repairs to floors and structures.
- Equipment Servicing: Change filters, service machinery with fuel and oil, and assist in mechanical tasks as needed.
- Snow and Ice Removal: Operate trucks and tractors for snow removal and keep work areas safe and accessible during winter conditions.
Required Education/Functional Skills:
- Experience: Prior work experience in a manufacturing environment is essential.
- Equipment Operation: Ability to operate Powered Industrial Trucks is required.
- Technical Skills: Basic math and computer skills; knowledge of SAP is desirable.
- Flexibility: Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors.
- Work Ethic: Demonstrated reliable attendance, strong work ethic, and ability to work as part of a team.
- Education: High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) required.
- Eligibility: Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
