Job Description:

Ensure quality system requirements are met and products meet print requirements.  Ensure correct documentation is completed verifying conformance to quality requirements.  Function as a team member in the production area and help the team make acceptable components and assemblies.   Also, responsible for gauges, in-process inspection audits and final inspection audits, as needed.  Has the authority to stop production or shipments and place product “On Hold” until a member of the QA Department reviews for final disposition.


Gauge Set-up

  • Able to read and understand all blue prints and tables as well as ISO procedures and Timken Corporate Quality standards. 
  • Has general knowledge of each work center in their assigned area and which measurement requirements are needed. 
  • Inspect precision work completed in Grind, Hard Machining, Super Finishing, and Assembly areas, when required. 
  • Help-Chain for set-up, measurement or customer requirement questions. 
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, as required and maintain daily activity logs, where required. 
  • Work with little or no supervision.

In-Process Inspection

  • Perform in-process audits of bearing components at work stations in their assigned area. 
  • Verify operators are recording the proper measurement documentation and part quality is satisfactory.
  • Spot-check operator measurements if part quality is in question. 
  • Help-Chain for questions regarding product quality, measurement methods or gauging devices. 
  • Perform CMM, CPG and RCF measurement inspection when necessary to verify correct set-up. 
  • Proficient in using a variety of precision measurement instruments. 
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, as required and maintain daily activity logs, where required. 
  • Perform build-up and assembly requirements for Tapered bearings. 
  • Work with little or no supervision. 
  • Assist operators with in-process inspections, if needed.

 Final Inspection

  • Responsible for inspecting quality of assemblies.
  • Knowledgeable on assembly requirements for clearance, fit, visual standards, preservation, packaging and labeling. 
  • Able to properly audit assembly activities to ensure customer requirements are met. 
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, as required and daily activity logs, where required.
  • Work with little or no supervision. 
  • Required to work in other areas of in-process inspection and gauge set–up.
  • Assist in other inspection or quality control areas, if needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Ability to accurately read/interpret detail and assembly prints, work instructions & Corporate Quality Standards.
  2. Ability to access all necessary Quality documents for each production job.
  3. Ability to accurately inspect parts with all types of hand-held, precision gaging.
  4. Ability to run all electronic measurement devices within the plant including the CMM, RCF, CPG, Surface Finish. TEVO and Rc Hardness gauges.
  5. Knowledgeable on customer requirements for Final Assembly, Clearance, Visual Standards, Packaging and Preservation for bearing production in assigned area.
  6. Knowledgeable on quality system requirements in assigned area.
  7. Some heavy work involved with lifting and moving large bearing components.
  8. Must be willing to work any shift and over-time
