Application Engineer

Reporting to Service & Application Engineering Manager, key duties will include:


The Application Engineer - Process Industries provides technical support to industrial customers in the Central Europe & Russian markets as well to support Colmar & Canton Application Engineering.

- Identifies new or expanded business opportunities for new or existing products, services, or markets.
- Performs application studies using mechanical tools and engineering principles developed by Timken.
- Analyzes customers application requirements and business goals to develop optimum bearing system solutions.
- Identifies improvements and enhancements to existing methods, processes and tools.


Job Assignments: Review application details and performs systems analysis, bearing selection, L10 life and fitting practice calculations, seal and lubricant suggestions.
Performance or Quality Issues: Performs routine investigations (in cooperation with Service Engineering and others), collects data from sales, prepares and delievers reports.

Independently evaluates, selects and applies current application engineering practices using judgements in making adaptations and modifications.
Supports the Sales Process: Participates in customer calls and makes technical presentations to them. Manage calls directly from customers without Sales intervention, whilst ensuring Sales participates in the process appropriately.
Supports Marketing: Provides market intelligence and support to marketing initiatives.
Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Contribute to risk analisys bt applying standard processes and procedures 
New Business Development: Submit ideas for improvements to standard product lines, tests new analysis software. Conduct industry or technology research. 
Knowledge Transfer: Instructor for Core technical training classes. Shares knowledge and findings with others through effective communication skills. 


Candidates for this position should meet the following criteria:

University degree in mechanical engineering.

Relevant working experince ( min. 3 years) in at least two of the following areas: Mechanical Engineering, Application Engineering, Project Engineering, Product Design.

Knowledge of design and process selection, manufacturing, costing.

Very good English skills.

Systemic thinking.
