Description:

Overview - Metallurgical projects involving bearing steel alloys in forged and heat treated conditions for the purpose of establishing or improving process tolerances impacting product Quality.

 

Position Overview/Responsibilities

 

  • Interact with local material provider to evaluate and adapt currently converted steel coil material to straight rod type product for use in local manufacturing turning operations.
  • Work with Plant Metallurgists in Bucyrus, OH manufacturing location to complete test work associated with evaluation of industrial heat treating results due to material chemistry changes.
  • Work with corporate metallurgical laboratory to complete testing needed for qualification of new material types and sizes across existing supplier steel melting and rolling operations.
  • Position could require limited travel to supplier or manufacturing locations.

 

Basic Qualifications

 

  • Majors sought: Metallurgical or Materials Engineering
  • Year in school: Junior or Senior level undergraduate.
  • Full-time student (12 semester hours) attending an accredited four-year university 
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Valid U.S. drivers license
