Position Summary:

Supports CNC machines with programming, troubleshooting, and DNC library management. Interacts with various disciplines both within and outside of the organization.

   

  • Performs all duties as assigned in a safe and efficient manner with an emphasis on quality.  Follows Company and departmental procedures, including regular attendance and punctuality.  Follows all safety rules and keeps work area in a clean and orderly condition. 
  • Works with Manufacturing Engineering and Production departments to develop and refine CNC programs for new parts in the most effective and efficient forms.
  • Reviews and maintains exisiting CNC programs on a regular basis to ensure process efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Troubleshoots programs, setups, and tooling and provides training and support for Production as applicable.
  • Competently uses CAD/CAM, Office and modeling software to perform analysis and layout to meet objectives.
  • Communicates and works with tooling suppliers to evaluate, recommend and test tooling/equipment for capability, reliability and cost effectiveness.
  • Works with the Quoting department to develop and review tooling needs, cycle times, etc., to generate data for both new and existing parts.
  • Organizes and maintains records to document continuous process improvement efforts.
  • Assists in the development of procedures, ABPS specs, CPI sheets and setup cards.
  • Participates in cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives with production, engineering, and quality teams.

 

Essential Job Duties:

Operates CNC equipment to assist in the developement and improvement of programming. Presents various propposed projects to a variety of people as required. Serves on various committees to represent Manufacturing Engineering. Assists with the design and fabrication of prototype parts.

 

Must be able to read and interpret drawings and specifications. Proficient in CAD/CAM, office, and modeling software.  Must have a good understanding of various material types and best practices for machining them using resources such as cutting tool data and speed and feed information. Must have good understanding of product specifications and customer requirements.

 

Skills:

Machines, Tools, Equipment, Software:   Computer, CNC equipment, CAD/CAM, Microsoft Office, Modeling software.  Must have a good understanding of a variety of machine tools, their capabilities and controls.  Must have a good understanding of various inspection techniques, tolerances and measuring tools.   

 

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent field of study with 3 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
